girl crushin'

last night's concert experience started out a bit shaky. the opening band, lewis & clarke, were, well...not for me. the songs were so, so dull. i couldn't even tell where one finished and another started. it didn't help that the lead singer was really nothing to look at (oh, come on, don't act like you all don't check out whoever you're watching!), and despite his extreme non-goodlookingness, he still managed to come across as an arrogant so-and-so. my excitement for bat for lashes had all but diminished when he finally declared they were on their last song (which still sounded like a continuation from their first song, but whatever! they were almost done!!!)

one quick band clean-up and set-up later, and bat for lashes took the stage. let me first say, she's adorable. like a-dor-able. so shy, and so thankful, and so cute. let me then say that her voice was incredible. me = blown away. it pains me to even make the comparison, but...i originally thought feist's voice was incredible live...i now have to admit feist has nothing on bat for lashes. her voice carried. and was so hauntingly beautiful. goosebumps. and so much fun. i loved every song in the set. yes, i'm gushing. and yes, i have the biggest girl crush ever! i really don't understand how more people don't like bat for lashes! (correction: i really don't understand how more people i know don't like bat for lashes. because the venue was sold out last nite - in fact, it's the busiest i've ever seen the mod club!) i've posted some of my videos below, in hopes of converting you guys :) 

oh, and if i could pull off white leggings covered in eyeballs, i totes would.

after bat for lashes left the stage, the weird dance party that the mod club does started. seriously, it's the strangest thing ever. d and i were sitting along the side in between shows when we were asked to move because we were in what was to become the vip section. yes. the vip section. at the mod club. is anyone else confused? but they set it up as just that, and guess what? people sat there. and ordered bottle service...and everyone who was entering the mod club at that time was served champagne. champagne. at the mod club. truly bizarre. and even more bizarre? the crowd. the most unusual cast of characters ever! we even considered leaving before public came on for their set...am so thankful we stayed! public hit the stage just after 11 and they were every bit as good as i remembered. we danced. we sang. and we laughed at the guys who were dancing and singing more than us at the front of the stage. such fun!

now...when's the next show?? may is looking pretty dry...
