an appetite for design.

the winners of the 2009 toronto urban design awards were unveiled earlier this week. many of them i have enjoyed personally and some i've even blogged about, but when scrolling through the full list of winners and honorable mentions yesterday, i noticed a park listed that i'd never seen. ireland park? at the waterfront? odd, given how much time i spend there. today was a bit of a boo day (awes: -100%), so i figured i'd walk it off and see if i could find it. it was no small feat, i assure you. i counted myself out when i finally saw a small sign with an arrow. and then another with an arrow. and then another. it was as though i was on a treasure hunt. finally! the park. this hauntingly beautiful (somewhat creepy) park, is right on the water, but tucked away behind the old malt silos and beside the airport parking lot. it is probs the worst place for this park, but the sculptures and the space are beautiful. in my haste to walk off my day, i totes forgot my camera, so please forgive the craptacular treo pics. if you're ever at the waterfront, you should deffo check it out. it is one of the most quiet, secluded parks i've ever been to in the city. and did i mention its a bit creeps?

thatta way. jubilant man.

ireland park. death becomes her.

jubilant man. hesitant man.
