my ears are ringing.
ruby coast opened and were just as much fun as i remembered, from their lite brite 'ruby coast' sign to their swapping of instruments between songs - love, love, love. and, with vampire weekend reluctant to come back to toronto (i'm just bitter that they haven't been here in over a year), these guys are the next best thing for me.
still life still were oh-kay. not 100% pure love, but maybe that's because the mix seemed to be totally off from where we were standing. we could barely hear the lead singer's vocals. but they did have a few tunes that i will deffo be downloading (from itunes! sheesh)
next up...arkells!
sometimes i think that i remember them better than they actually are. but nope, they proved again last night that they are that good, and they very rarely disappoint. lead singer, max, was on fire last night, obvs pumped that it was their first headlining show. the boys were amazing and so was the crowd, who were singing most songs just as loud as the band. there were actually a few moments when i thought we'd have to rely on our concert survival know-how, namely when they played 'oh, the boss is coming'. the place got a bit craze. but the highlight for me? 'i'm not the sun', their one and only ballad that they never play live, got played last night. squeal! and it was spot.on. could not have loved it more. am i gushing a bit? totes.
arkells - i'm not the sun
