nxne

just four more days until the nxne festival takes over toronto. for those of you who have never been, i can't tell you how much you're missing out. 500 bands in 5 days, at nearly every venue in toronto. sure the schedule gets a bit crazy, and you're basically 'amazing racing' across the city to get to the next band before the start of their set, but it's all part of the fun! the entire schedule, complete with line-ups and venue information is available here. if you can only check out a couple of bands, i can vouch for both ruby coast and said the whale. both are playing the festival on saturday night - so you have no excuses to not see them! also, said the whale are doing an in-store performance at criminal records this friday. it's bound to be up-close and personal (and probs a bit sweaty, given the size of criminal records). in case you're too lazy to myspace or google them, here are two vids (don't judge them based on their videos, keep in mind these are indie :) ). and if these bands aren't musically your cup of tea, i guarantee you something at nxne will be. deffo check it out.

Not bad, not bad at all. Le sigh, another good reason to be living in the city. I've been going to web pages of some of the bands in the line up...I have A LOT of downloading to do ;)
