how fluent are you in cherylese?
i'm not exactly sure how or when it happened, but somehow people have become fluent in cherylese. not only have they become fluent, but they have embraced it...calling on a need for a blog. a blog to be written in what they have fondly dubbed, "cherylese". so what is cherylese, you ask? well, i'm not certain, but the glossary looks a little something like this:
totes (pronounced toe-tes): totally. as in, 'i totes think you should do that'
cranks or grumps: cranky, grumpy and generally unpleasant to be around. read: do NOT poke the bear.
hilar: (pronounced hil-air) hilarious. perhaps the most overused word in the cherylese language. can be used in sentence form (with other cherylese words), or as a response to something just witnessed. eg/ omg, totes hilar.
mayhap: maybe. best when used in a 'maybe i will, maybe i wont' context, but works just as well in everyday 'maybe' use.
deffo (pronounced deaf-oh): definitely. as in you should deffo do that. try not to use this in meetings. i've learned through cold glares that this is simply not acceptable.
probs: probably. okay, i claim no originality on this one, but it seems to work quite nicely with the rest of the cherylese language.
terribs or horribs (pronounced terr-eebs or horr-eebs): terrible or horrible, with a french flair.
unhelpable: you are beyond help. used in a 'you totes need to get over that guy' kinda context.
brutes: brutal. use when things are disgusting, or just generally suck.
of course this is a small selection, a few words in cherylese to get you all started. but learning a new language isn't easy, and i'm always here to help and guide you. are you stumbling with pronunciation? drop me a line! did i miss one of your favs? feel free to comment and i'll update the list.
next up, popular cherylese phrases.special thanks to drew and liz for semi-mocking the language...but then inspiring, setting up and funding the blog. heart!!!
