blue eve of dawn.

holy crap. vampire weekend are playing the horseshoe in toronto...and we got tickets!!! weeeeeeeeeee! honestly, i can't even properly describe how excited i am for this show. we are talking can.barely.breathe. kind of excitement! a quick breakdown of excitement factors:

1. vampire weekend never come to town. the last time they were here, it was for a festival. it was a short set and it rained. a lot. (but i'd like to think that we made the clear plastic ponchos that we fogged up with our disgusting body heat in the humid, humid summer rain look totes fashionable)
2. the show is at the friggin HORSESHOE. um...max capacity 350 ppl. need i say more? (and yes, it's already sold out!)
3. it's on october 8th. and our office is closed on the 9th. fate? hell yes.
4. i'm going with 5 of the most tres awes people i know. i see messy drunken dancing in our futures.

if you don't know vampire weekend. you should. there are a slew of vids on youtube. go watch. go now! but for those of you who do know them, i'm posting the acoustic man-on-the-street type vids that they've done below. mostly because they kind of blow my mind. also...how about some remixes for yas too? chromeo (yes, the amazingly awesome chromeo) did a remix of 'the kids don't stand a chance' and in the excitement of this morning, sam just passed along the teenagers' mix of 'cape cod kwassa kwassa', also pretty cool.

for those of you wondering about the title of this post, you can thank my friend, rae, for that little piece of comedy gold (that still makes me laugh every.single.time). if you don't know the lyrics to 'cape cod kwassa kwassa', the opening starts:

apparently 'louis vuitton' = 'blue eve of dawn', to those with extra special, extra creative ears. i'm not even sure how a dawn can have a blue eve too...but i've got to say, i think i like the misheard lyric better. on october 8th. i'll be singing along. blue eve of dawn and all.
